How many real men, adult men, want to run off to an amusement park with  their buddies? It's just plain weird. And think of the poor maids at those Orlando hotels. It makes me shudder.

I know I'm not. I used to write occasional articles for the diocesan paper, but I'm blacklisted and have been for years. They won't even publish a letter to the ed unless I sign it with a pseudonym. Because, heck, I'm mean. Hey, if you dare to criticize the scandals promulgated by our pathetic bishops, you must hate the Church.



What ever happened to the spiritual work of mercy, "To admonish the sinner." Most bishops have dropped it down the memory hole. Besides, the only unforgivable sin, worse than the sin against the Holy Spirit, that can result in serious retaliation is to criticize the bishops.

Clearly fornication and advancing moral evils is okay as shown by Cardinal Dolan's bowing and scraping to Mario Cuomo. Wonder what the bishops think of that mean ole John the Baptist with his politically incorrect extremist talk. How dare he call the religious leaders of his day a "brood of vipers?" Beheading was too good for him.

It will be interesting to see how my own bishop treats Terry McAuliffe, candidate for governor, a pro-abortion, pro-gay Catholic (sic) who attends St. Luke's in McLean. When McAuliffe starts trashing REAL CATHOLIC Ken Cuccinelli who defends the unborn and stands up for traditional marriage, will voters be advised that these are serious moral issues for Catholics - issues that are immoral to support? Or will McAuliffe get the wink and the nod and the pat on the back in the parish parking lot filled with bumper stickers advancing his pro-abortion, pro-gay career? What do you think?

Churches Saying Good-Bye to the Boy Scouts!

Any boy could be a scout. He just needed to shut up. The scouts essentially had the same policy as the military's Don't Ask Don't Tell. Why couldn't the gays leave it at that? Simple, they want to legitmize the lie that homosexuals are born and not made. Thank God some churches recognize where this juggernaut is going and are getting out of its way now. I salute Bill Bright, an Alabama lawyer, who is returning his Eagle Scout badge to the BSA.

I love good, honest atheists! And I've met a number of them. One was a young man counter protesting an Operation Rescue event in the early 90's in front of Planned Parenthood in Washington, D.C. He was shouting at us and calling us names, saying we were "stupid Christian bible thumpers." I got the impression he was an atheist, although I don't remember if he ever acknowledged it.

In fact, "bible thumper" that I am, I did have the good book in my backpack and told him I used it to help me develop my own philosophy of life. "What do you use?" I asked him.
 "I think for myself," he answered. "But what do you think about," I asked. "Do you have some a priori knowledge you were born with?" The conversation went back and forth for a bit, and I said he seemed like a young man searching for truth. I asked his first name so I could pray for him, but he wouldn't tell me. I said I would think of him as "David," the name of my oldest son who seemed about his age. As the police arrested the woman next to me, he reached over, tapped me on my shoulder and said, "My name is Dan." I have prayed intermittently for Dan ever since with instructions to my guardian angel to remember him when I forget.

For a week now, I've been thinking and praying for Dan once again. What jogged my memory was a conversation on this blog with an atheist named Christian (his real name he assured me). Christian has several atheist blogs and links to several others. He mentioned that he used to be a believer (or maybe I read that on his blog), but our conversation was not about atheism and he seemed reluctant to engage on that issue.

We had a cordial conversation back and forth. Christian seems to me to be another honest young man searching for the truth. I wonder sometimes what happened to Dan. Is he still an unbeliever defending the killing of babies in the womb as he was the day we met? I hope not. Christian was on my blog defending Planned Parenthood rhetorically, as Dan did physically. Is this a coincidence? Or is supporting the death peddlers the natural consequence of rejecting the God of life? I think so.

Atheism is on my mind for another reason. I'm reading Chesterton's The Ball and the Cross about an atheist and a Catholic fighting a duel over the atheist's blasphemy against the Blessed Mother. The duel keeps getting interrupted and the police are after the two to stop them and take them to an asylum. After all, fighting over just words is insane to a relativist culture where words mean nothing. (Of course, to Chesterton, words meant everything, and to all Catholics as well who see words as the reflection of THE WORD MADE FLESH.) One of the most interesting scenes in the book so far occurs as the two duelers are being pursued, but the Catholic stops and demands they fight it out there and then. Why with the police hot on their heels? Because he is beginning to like the atheist and fears he will betray the cause if they don't fight to the death at once. It is a poignant moment and one that reminds me how much my heart went out to Dan and how much I hope to meet him one day in heaven.

And I trust that my hope is not in vain. I read an article this morning by another honest atheist, former atheist I should say, who pursued truth and found Him. Megan Hodder entered the Church this Easter. And what set her on the path to a church so much in disarray with scandals by the bucketful? Pope Benedict's writings initially and then Thomas Aquinas, Edith Stein, and her own friendship with Catholics. Here's a bit of what she wrote describing what happened once she began to seriously evaluate Catholicism:

I looked for absurdities and inconsistencies in the Catholic faith that would derail my thoughts from the unnerving conclusion I was heading towards, but the infuriating thing about Catholicism is its coherency: once you accept the basic conceptual structure, things fall into place with terrifying speed. “The Christian mysteries are an indivisible whole,” wrote Edith Stein in The Science of the Cross: “If we become immersed in one, we are led to all the others.” The beauty and authenticity of even the most ostensibly difficult parts of Catholicism, such as the sexual ethics, became clear once they were viewed not as a decontextualised list of prohibitions, but as essential components in the intricate body of the Church’s teaching.

Megan has left atheism and crossed the Tiber to Rome, the true home for everyone created by God. I pray Dan has found that home as well and that Christian will find his way there some day. Will you join me in praying for honest atheists? Let's face it, they are closer to us than the lying, liberal Catholics who hate Church dogma and undermine it at every opportunity. Give me a good, honest atheist any day!

And the Holy Spirit Descended in the Form of a Dove

This lovely photo was taken on Wednesday May 15th, a few days before Pentecost Sunday at the Wednesday audience. Some pilgrims presented the pope with a cage holding two doves. He released the first one. The second got its wings caught in the bars of the cage, and sat for a few moments on the pope's hand before flying away. I believe these are homing pigeons. They are often released at events like weddings and funerals. They return to their home coop.
But what a lovely gesture just a few days before Pentecost Sunday. And how happy Pope Francis looks as he releases the bird. He does have about him the aura of a joyful man. And look at the two men behind him. Joy is contagious. Smile a lot today. It will be a gift to everyone you meet! Rejoice in the Lord always.

Hypocrites and Laughing Stocks in the Chancery!

Well, the truth is out. The New York Archidiocese is paying for abortion, contaception, and sterilization through some union contracts. And in Detroit Catholic hospitals are dispensing contraceptives. Undoubtedly, they are not isolated cases.

Shocked? Disillusioned? Not me. I have no illusions left and we've seen it too many times!



No wonder Cardinal Dolan welcomed Obama to dinner. They are moral twins. Or maybe clones is a better term since so many of the bishops are members of the club, i.e., hypocrites and liars. How are the laity supposed to respect our "shepherds" when they habitually tell us one thing and do another? When will we see the bishops walk the walk instead of talking the talk with forked tongues?

Pray for the bishops. I'm afraid maybe we get the leaders we deserve because we haven't fought (or prayed) hard enough! But God help us! As they say, with friends like this who needs enemies?

Now Why Isn't the EPA Screaming About This?

Birds are in danger; honeybees are disappearing, and Monsanto and other companies poisoning our food supply with neonicotinoids go their merry way with government protection. Well, you can't blame the EPA for ignoring the threat. After all, their investigators are just swamped fighting global warming.

At the center of this dispute between Russia and the US, this MNRE report says, is the “undisputed evidence” that a class of neuro-active insecticides chemically related to nicotine, known as neonicotinoids, are destroying our planets bee population, and which if left unchecked could destroy our world’s ability to grow enough food to feed its population....

“The European Union voted this week for a two-year ban on a class of pesticides, known as neonicotinoids, that has been associated with the bees’ collapse. The US government report, in contrast, found multiple causes for the collapse of the honeybees.”

To the “truer” reason for the Obama regimes protection of these bio-tech giants destroying our world, the MRNE says, can be viewed in the report titled “How did Barack Obama become Monsanto’s man in Washington?” and which, in part, says:

“After his victory in the 2008 election, Obama filled key posts with Monsanto people, in federal agencies that wield tremendous force in food issues, the USDA and the FDA: At the USDA, as the director of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, Roger Beachy, former director of the Monsanto Danforth Center. As deputy commissioner of the FDA, the new food-safety-issues czar, the infamous Michael Taylor, former vice-president for public policy for Monsanto. Taylor had been instrumental in getting approval for Monsanto’s genetically engineered bovine growth hormone.”

Even worse, after Russia suspended the import and use of an Monsanto genetically modified corn following a study suggesting a link to breast cancer and organ damage this past September, the Russia Today News Service reported on the Obama regimes response:

“The US House of Representatives quietly passed a last-minute addition to the Agricultural Appropriations Bill for 2013 last week – including a provision protecting genetically modified seeds from litigation in the face of health risks.

The rider, which is officially known as the Farmer Assurance Provision, has been derided by opponents of biotech lobbying as the “Monsanto Protection Act,” as it would strip federal courts of the authority to immediately halt the planting and sale of genetically modified (GMO) seed crop regardless of any consumer health concerns.

It's always about money and keeping the political donations rolling in. After all, the Obamas can afford to buy all organically grown food. And if food is less plentiful (almonds, for example, are heavily dependent on honeybees for pollination) and some items become scarce, the rich will still be able to afford them. Let the masses eat the genetically modified frankenfood which has also been associated with damaging fertility. Hey, the liberal elites can get an extra bang for their bucks. Take Monsanto's money and reduce the excess population, as Scrooge said.

The New Sexualized BSA: Where Will They Go from Here?

I'll be honest, I think the BSA's policy change is a train wreck. No doubt they will survive in the short term, but their image as a group with principles is already badly damaged. And churches are already exiting. The new policy which begins January 2014, is touted as no big deal by some. It simply says that those who openly express same-sex attraction, but are not acting on it, will be welcomed in troops. That's like saying BSA welcomes scouts who openly admit attractions to shoplifting or vandalism but abstain from the behavior. Why announce it at all? Because of original sin, we are all "oriented" toward sinful inclinations. The challenge is to choose holiness. What is the point of admitting our sinful inclinations in public? Oh, there's a point all right. The new policy, no matter how you frame it, advances the gay lifestyle by legitimizing the inclination. Sinful inclinations are for the confessional, not the pack meeting. But that's the point. It isn't about just allowing gay scouts to join. It's about sexualizing the troop, the initial stage in transforming scouting into one more institution that feeds the lie that homosexuality is inborn and unchangeable and, therefore, acting on the inclination is morally acceptable.
Kids who self-identify as gay are sexualized kids. How does that happen to a child in the latency period before puberty? Abuse is always a possibility, but also exposure and suggestion by adults. That's why gay groups are so involved in schools even at the elementary level with sex ed, safe touch, diversity training, anti-bullying programs, gay-straight alliance clubs, etc. ad nauseum. These programs groom kids for sexual experimentation. Would you want a twelve-year-old, self-identified gay scout who's been exposed to all these things tenting with your cub scout? There's a reason the scouts are not co-ed!

From the gay activist's  point of view, the new policy is also about gay adult access which is inevitable. Once the gay scouts are 18, is BSA really going to just shake hands and say good-bye; you can't be involved any more? That's ridiculous! Of course, the next step is allowing gay leaders.

There are many reasons sexualizing the scouts is a serious problem? Think of the campouts. Will there be a policy to segregate the gay boys (who openly admit sexual attraction to other boys) from the straights? If not, isn't that like putting boys and girls together which scout policy forbids? Will there be segregated sleeping arrangements and showering facilities, for example. What if a troop has only one or two gay scouts?  Think of the logistics nightmare of dealing with the new policy. And can't you just hear the screams about discrimination and marginalization and making the gay kids feel like second-class scouts if any precautions are taken? No, the BSA battle is just beginning with the ultimate goal being gay leaders at all levels including national policy-development. All you have to do is look at the Girl Scouts which heavily supports feminism, Planned Parenthood, and the LGBT agenda to see where the BSA is going.

I couldn't disagree more with canon lawyer Ed Peters who makes the case for "tak[ing] the Boy Scouts at their word" and waiting. That's how the frog got boiled! Dr. Judith Reisman has a different take, outrage, and she backs it up with statistics on kids sexually abusing younger kids:

It is estimated that in the United States, juveniles are responsible for up to one-fifth of all rapes and up to one half of all cases of child molestation committed each year (CSOM, 1999).
Juveniles are 36 percent of all sex offenders who victimize children. Seven out of eight are at least 12 years old, and 93 percent are boys (Crimes Against Children Research Center, UNH, 2010).

Tlhe BSA's former policy excluding gays didn't stop child sex abuse. It was just hidden. Does anyone believe the new policy will make the situation safer for scouts, especially the youngest boys? And when (not if) gay scout leaders are allowed, things will get even dicier.

The good news is that the BSA is no longer the only show in town. Parents and leaders are already considering alternatives. I blogged a few days ago about Catholic Scouts of St. George and there are other choices springing up as well. See Fatih Based Boys. There's nothing in their statement of faith that a Catholic couldn't subscribe to. Troops that leave en masse can take their structure and just incorporate it into a new organization. Think of it as swarming bees. They leave the original hive and look for a new home. When they find it, they just move on in and keep doing what they do. Alternative organizations will provide the new homes for scout troops that see where the BSA is going and don't want to go there. Parents with any sense will dump the BSA and find an alternative. The risk to the physical and moral health of young boys  is just too great to be worth "tak[ing] the Boy Scouts at their word.".

Rebuilding: The Blue Birds and the People of Moore, Oklahoma

I had a tragedy in my backyard a few days ago that reminded me on a mini scale of the devastating tornado disaster in Oklahoma. Something (probably a curious young bear) came through my yard and destroyed two houses. One was vacant; the other was occupied by a pair of bluebirds and their three little pre-born baby birds. At first I thought the vandalizer might be a raccoon, but the screws attaching the houses to the poles were bent and the houses took a real beating. Besides, a raccoon would likely have eaten the eggs, but whatever committed the vandalism left two uneaten broken eggs and one intact egg on the ground. It was senseless destruction and mayhem -- sort of like the tornado.

So why does this remind me of Oklahoma, a disaster on a grand scale? Because as soon as we replaced the house with a new bluebird box, the parents came back to rebuild. They are going in and out of the box even as I write this, presumably making a new nest.

No wonder Jesus told his listeners to look to the lilies of the field and the birds of the air. They have much to teach us. The bluebirds, like the people of Moore, are starting over. They will fly back and forth filling their new home with new nesting material. And I hope when they are finished the mother bird will lay new eggs. Bluebirds can have up to three broods in a season, so my optimism squares with nature.

The people of Moore are certainly worth more than a pair of bluebirds or the proverbial two sparrows sold for a penny. And every hair on their heads is counted. God will be with them as they begin again with the indefatigable spirit that overflows in people of faith which they are. May God pour out His blessings upon them as they rebuild. He knows what they need and promises to provide for those who "Seek first His kingship...and His way of holiness." God is not a stingy Father. He has the people of Moore in His hands and they will rebuild with His help.

God our Father, pour out Your Spirit upon them through Christ our Lord.

They were at it before delegates had time to get home from the convention!

Liberal Mother Jones Implies Blacks are Murderers, Rapists, and Pedophiles!

Liberals are such hypocrites! Read the Mother Jones article and the comments following criticizing Congress for cutting off food stamps to murderers, rapists, and pedophiles. You'd never know Congress was talking about serious crimes from the hand-wringing whining of liberals. Nope, Congress is really picking on blacks - black youth in fact who only committed one murder at a tender age!

Actually, I thought the congressmen were picking on criminals. But Mother Jones says they are black criminals even though all the criminals, no matter their color, will be equally cut off.

Can you imagine the uproar if that article were posted on the American Spectator or by the Family Research Council? Liberals typically attack conservatives as racists for opposing any socialist policy advanced by our black president. Any act by a conservative is racist. Hence, when conservatives vote to make murderers, rapists, and pedophiles (of any color) ineligible for food stamps, we all know that Congress is really using "murderer's, rapists, and pedophiles" as code words for blacks.

Yikes? Talk about a systemic attitude of racism!

But then it's Democrat policies that destroyed many black families replacing fathers with Uncle Sam Sugar Daddy who herded his families into subsidized housing projects to keep them corralled. As Star Parker said in a column recently:

It’s no accident that trillions of dollars in government programs have had zero impact on black poverty. But black single parent homes and out-of-wedlock births have tripled since the War on Poverty began in 1965.

Yup, because it wasn't about making families less dependent; it was all about creating a reliable Democrat voting block who demanded handouts forever and would vote for the party that provided them. That's why liberals also have a policy of dumbing down the education system. Turn the schools into laboratories for sexual experimentation through sex ed, safe touch, and anti-bullying programs and you refocus kids' attention from their brains to their genitals. (It's hard to develop critical thinking skills from various positions between the sheets.) And absolutely forbid school choice so concerned parents (especially single parents) can flee failing schools. Nope! The only choice liberal government gives the poor is to kill their babies (for their own good, of course).

Which brings me back to murderers, rapists, and pedophiles. A society that promotes lust, which ours obviously does, is guaranteed all three. Lust and violence are like two sides of a coin; they go together. Serial killers teach us that! Ted Bundy described the beginning of his problem when he found pornography and became addicted to it. Jeffrey Dahmer was a homosexual cannibal. So many serial killers are motivated by sex that they have their own classification: Lust Serial Killers. Now, why should taxpayers be forced to feed them? Let them get jobs or line up outside church soup kitchens. They need morality as much as food and they aren't likely get that at the local welfare department. 

As for Mother Jones -- they're just a bunch of liberal racists!

E.W. Jackson: The Black Man Racist Liberals Love to Hate!

Liberals are racists at heart. They are eager to abort black babies and they do - at a much higher rate than white babies. Blacks represent less than 13% of the population, but have almost 40% of the abortions. It's a project of stealth black genocide masquerading as health care for the poor. 

Liberals love to use black union workers as their precinct slaves and thugs to control their town hall meetings, but blacks are almost invisible in the corridors of liberal power. Consider the Obama White House, for example. How many blacks can you think of among his inner circle? Any? Reality check: There are fewer blacks in leadership positions in Obama's cabinet than in any presidential  administration of the past thirty-eight years! Attorney General Eric Holder is the ONLY black cabinet-level appointee in Obama's administration.


In view of that, it's been interesting to watch the liberal left puff out their chests and attack E.W. Jackson, a black conservative and the Virginia GOP's nominee for Lieutenant Governor of Virginia. The left is practically foaming at the mouth to discredit him, and they don't even mind using racism to do it. Let's take a look at a few liberals and their attacks on Jackson.

On Hardball Chris Mathews said Jackson represents the "crazy wing" of the party. He went on to say:

In a 2010 blog post, Jackson wrote that President Obama has a “Muslim perspective." He also says Michelle Obama and her husband are “the intellectual cousins and heirs of a Communist, collectivist way of thinking."

Uh...well? Obama bows to Muslim leaders, recites the Muslim call to prayer with a perfect accent, avoids calling Muslim terrorism Muslim terrorism to the extent of labeling Nidal Hasan's murderous rampage at Fort Hood as "workplace violence" despite his connections to known terrorists and calling out "Allahu Akbar" before he opened fire. So exactly how did Jackson get it wrong? As for having a "Communist, collectivist way of thinking"...Uh...yes! Has Matthews failed to notice Obama's connection to folks like Bill Ayers and Communist party activist Frank Marshall Davis who is described as his "mentor"? And, surely Chris knows his hero was endorsed by the Communist Party! Jackson got it 100% right, but he just doesn't send a thrill up Chis Matthew's leg so he get's the brass knuckles and designation of being the party of nuts and crazies.

And here's how the uber liberal Daily Kos' Hunter slandered Jackson. Just when you think the GOP couldn't get any loonier, along comes E.W. Jackson. A few quotes from a liberal voice of tolerance, diversity, and inclusion.attack Jackson's traditional conservatism in a vicious diatribe. According to Hunter,  the delegates who elected Jackson are guilty of "abject batshit insanity" for making him their "poster boy." (Can you imagine the uproar is somebody called Obama "boy?") Jackson is "incoherent" with "hatefulness dialed up to eleven and a half." He was "cloned in a Republican Lunatic Candidate vat." He's engaged in "spectacularly nasty rhetoric" and is an "f--king insane hatemonger." Wow! And Jackson is the one guilty of "nasty rhetoric?" Can you imagine if a conservative described Obama in this way? Anybody criticizing his positions is smeared as a racist. So what's going on here? Simple! It's what blacks who escape the liberal plantation receive as a matter of course. We saw it in the attempted "high tech lynching" of Clarence Thomas. It's the marginalizing of brilliant thinkers like Thomas Sowell and the attacks on black conservative women like Mia Love. Liberals will do everything they can to destroy Jackson!

Moving on we see liberal Wonkette in another attack describing Virginia's delegates as the party "dingbats." (Well who but a dingbat would vote for a black conservative?) The comments on Wonkette's post show exactly how racist liberals are. Here are just a few: Elviouslyqueer wrote, "somewhere, a cabin is missing its Uncle Tom." (Apparently E-queer never read the book or he would know that Uncle Tom was an admirable character who's been slimed by liberals.) "Lizietish81's snide comment was, "He is especially liked in the GOP for the way he refers to his white colleagues as 'Massa.'" Freakishly wrong said, "Wingers seem to have an endless supply of self-loathing stepin' fetchits to trot out to try and prove they're not bigots." There wasn't a single comment disagreeing with liberal bigotry which means either Wonkette doesn't post them or only racist liberals read her blog.

Jackson is being painted as an insane buffoon unlike Obama who the media declared the smartest man to ever win the presidency. His bio doesn't match the nasty portrait painted by the liberal media. His parents separated when he was a child and he was mostly raised in foster homes. He served in the Marine Corps for three years, being honorably discharged early after suffering a back injuryduring a training exercise. He attended the University of Massachusetts and graduated in only three year going on to receive his law and divinity degrees  from Harvard. He practiced law for 15 years in Boston and also taught Administrative Law at Northeastern University. And this is the man being treated as insane, a buffoon, an Uncle Tom, a hatemonger, and a "stepin fetchit" by liberal racists.

Conservative black columnist Star Parker cheered for Jackson's nomination saying:

Although Republicans are talking about black outreach, it is not, unfortunately, blacks like Jackson that they have in mind. 

He is outspoken about limited government and personal freedom, about the importance of family and traditional marriage, and about doing something about the scourge of abortion.
In other words, E.W. Jackson stands for everything that the Republican Party once stood for.
He’s making the Republicans of inclusion squirm. 

The current Republican Lt. Governor of Virginia, Bill Bolling, immediately criticized his party for nominating Jackson, saying it will feed the “image of extremism” in the party.
Ronald Reagan used to say that the 11th commandment was to not speak ill of a fellow Republican. That commandment has now been modified to permit it if that fellow Republican is a Christian conservative. 

Certainly Jackson does not pull punches. But his statements about the government “plantation” are 100 percent true. It’s no accident that trillions of dollars in government programs have had zero impact on black poverty. But black single parent homes and out-of-wedlock births have tripled since the War on Poverty began in 1965... 

The country needs a bold alternative voice to wake it up. The conservative Ken Cuccinelli – E W Jackson ticket in Virginia is such a voice.

Will their party get behind them or pull the rug out like they’ve done to other conservatives in recent races? Will the Republican Party get back to what it once was about or will it become just another symptom of a nation in decline?

Judging from the establishment Republicans attacking Virginia, the answer is clear, which means that grassroots activists must work hard to get our candidates elected. It all starts with prayer and fasting and then supporting our ticket by knocking on doors, holding coffees and working like crazy. The liberal racists have already declared defeat for the Cuccinelli/Jackson ticket in November. Let's show them that traditional family values aren't as dead as they'd like to think!

Boy Scouts Need to Live in the Real World

They didn't just admit young boys who say they are gay. They acknowledge that same sex behavior is legitimate sexual expression. In 2000 when BSA was fighting the court battle against forced admittance of homosexuals as a civil right, they won a victory in the Supreme Court. Author Robert Reilly summed up that decision:

In writing for the majority, Chief Justice William Rehnquist said that the “presence [of the avowed homosexual] in the Boy Scouts would, at the very least, force the organization to send a message, both to the youth members and the world, that the Boy Scouts accepts homosexual conduct as a legitimate form of behavior.” Forcing the Scouts to do this would have violated their First Amendment right because, as the Court noted, the Boy Scouts asserts that it “teach[es] that homosexual conduct is not morally straight,” and that it does “not want to promote homosexual conduct as a legitimate form of behavior.” 

This just changed. On May 23, 2013, the Boy Scouts of America’s national governing body voted to lift its long-standing ban on openly homosexual youth in the program. Effective January 1, 2014, “No youth may be denied membership in the Boy Scouts of America on the basis of sexual orientation or preference alone.” 

The organization, as Justice Rehnquist might express it, just sent a message. It’s the same message that the homosexual activist was trying to force the Scouts to send back in 2000—“that the Boy Scouts accepts homosexual conduct as a legitimate form of behavior.” Does this seem too harsh an assessment?... 

By now accepting openly homosexual members, the Boy Scouts are, at the very least, certainly going to be dealing with a major distraction (can homosexual Scouts bunk together?). But what is much worse, it is implicitly accepting the rationalization for homosexual sexual behavior as part of its moral formation. This will make the Scouts complicit in the corruption of youth.

Read the rest of the article here and start looking for an alternative for your boys. BSA, by caving in to the politically correct zeitgeist, teaches that when things get tough, give up your principles. Will the next principle to go be belief in God when an atheist boy wants to join!

The fact is that Boy Scouts is teaching that principles aren't principles at all, they are like children's pinwheels shifting with each shifting breeze. Is that what manly virtue is all about?  The BSA's collapse was an act of cowardice (and probably greed since so many groups were cutting off the money). But is moral cowardice the lesson parents want their boys to learn? Is that why they commit their time and money to the group? We'll find out in the months ahead as scouts and their parents make decisions about whether to continue in the BSA. I can't imagine any sane parent sending a young son on a campout with older gay scouts and ultimately gay scoutmasters. It's time for a BSA alternative.

Public Schools and Gender-Bending

Funny skits have always been a part of growing up. I remember seeing a skit (can't remember where) when a group of boys dressed up in borrowed cheerleader outfits. It used to be funny. But that was when it was a joke. Today, it's no joke. Kids are being urged to consider the possibility they are lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgendered, queer, etc. (The list keeps getting longer.). They are titillated with graphic sex ed that includes describing not only heterosexual sex, but the depraved acts of homosexuals. They see pictures and illustrations of sex organs from the time they are in middle school if not earlier. (There are plenty of picture books on "safe touch" programs for the little ones that are a pedophiles dream. 

So a school "gender-bending" day where kids are encouraged to cross dress is no longer innocent fun, it's homosexual indoctrination which is why one Milwaukee mom did not send her seven-year-old son to school on "Switch it Up Day" May 24th.

This is not an isolated incident. It's been going on for years. And there are lots of other activities, often billed as "anti-bullying" that are really about normalizing homosexuality and training kids to experiment - like the annual "Day of Silence." It's all about taking the future by bending the minds of the children. Many of the programs target kids from K-12. What does a Kindergartner know about sex? Plenty if the gays have their way. 

Parents wake up! Congratulations to the mom who kept her son home. But one day is not enough. Bring the kids home for good. There may be some public schools out there that aren't playing mind games with the kids, but with federal programs developing core curriculum and input from the pro-homosexual National Education Association, they are few and far between. 

Besides, home schoolers have more fun. 

Catholic Scouts of St. George: A Brilliant Idea

It's time for Catholics to exit the Boy Scouts. Bringing in homosexual boys (i.e., adolescents brainwashed into the "gay" mindset) is just the preliminary step to the gay takeover of scouting at all levels. After all, what possible objection can the national board have to making a graduating homosexual eagle scout a troop leader? It's a no-brainer. The first home-run is the game winner! And they had all the bases loaded when they smashed it in. That the battle isn't over was illustrated clearly in a May 23rd article in the New York Times which began, "For Carol Clayton, the battle over gays in the Boy Scouts did not end on Thursday. Until gay members can serve as troop leaders — not only as scouts — she sees a human rights violation."

I have to give the cultural termites credit.
They know how to frame an issue...they are very patient...just like the Gramsci Communists who realized violent revolution was much less likely to succeed in the long run than changing a culture from within, hence the long, slow march through the churches, the schools, government at all levels, the courts, the entertainment industry, non-profits, the media, political and economic think tanks, etc. Fr. Enrique Rueda described the same inexorable infiltration of these institutions in his 1982 book, The Homosexual Network: Private Lives and Public Policy. Fr. Rueda made it clear his book outlining the homosexual network's success in transforming the culture was simply describing the "way things are." He drew few conclusions about the information he gathered, offering mostly observations, with a notable exception. "The conclusion that the homosexual movement is a subset of the spectrum of American liberal movements," he said,  "is inescapable." It began with framing a particular perverted behavior as a "civil right" comparing it to slavery -- as if choosing perverted behavior is the same as an unchanging physical characteristic. It's a lie that caught on.

Facing reality is essential to making decisions and the reality is that the Boy Scouts, by accepting gay youngsters, have joined the homosexual's bloodless revolution. The inexorable march to depravity in the scouts is ensured. Young scouts will be taught that they must be "tolerant" and "accepting," that gay is good, just an "alternative lifestyle" and anyone who thinks differently is a heartless, homophobic bigot.

Every ism from Naziism, to Communism, to feminism must capture the hearts, minds, and souls of the young to succeed. That's what taking over the scouts is all about. Parents who truly love their children need to recognize that the Boy Scouts have joined the ranks of the enemy. The only response is to flee, not out of fear of those who suffer from same-sex attraction, they are to be pitied and prayed for, but fear of hell fire. The Church has always taught us to avoid the near occasions of sin and to avoid bad companions. Those who encourage or engage in deviant behavior (Does anyone really believe this is about chaste and virginal behavior?) are certainly not appropriate companions for those striving to live according to God's laws.

Which brings me to Taylor Marshall's proposal for a new Catholic scouting movement, the Catholic Scouts of St. George. It is a brilliant idea with the possibility of Catholic troops leaving Boy Scouts en masse and setting up their own separate troops in the heart of the Church, troops that encourage boys to grow into holy, men who love the faith and love their families. Moral deviance is a dead end whatever form it takes. Homosexual acts are particularly dead since they not only cannot give life, but give rise to deadly diseases. But most of all, they kill the soul. As St. John warns there is such a thing as deadly sin,  and deadly sin is the last thing parents should want to encourage in their young boys. Flee the Boy Scouts! They will corrupt your boys as surely as wallowing in a pile of manure!

Pope Francis' Angelus Message on the Feast of the Most Holy Trinity

"The light of Easter and Pentecost have renewed in us each year the joy and wonder of faith that recognizes that God is not something vague, abstract, but has a name: ‘God is love,’” the Pope said May 26, before reciting the Angelus in St. Peter’s Square. 

And this love “is not sentimental, emotional, but the love of the Father who is the source of all life, the love of the Son who died on the cross and rose, the love of the Spirit who renews man and the world,” he stated. 

Pope Francis then reflected on how the Trinity “is not the product of human reasoning, it is the face which God himself revealed, not from the top of a throne, but walking with humanity in the history of the people of Israel, and above all in Jesus of Nazareth. 

“Jesus is the Son who made us know the merciful Father and brought to the world his ‘fire,’ the Holy Spirit,” he said. 

On today’s feast, he explained, “we praise God not for a particular mystery, but for himself, ‘for his glory is immense,’ as the liturgical hymn says. We praise him and thank him because he is love, and for how he calls us to enter the embrace of his communion, which is eternal life.”

Parents who endorse their children's sinful behavior out of a confused sense of love, may be setting them on the road to hell. I wonder, would a parent with a child who habitually shoplifted approve that lifestyle? What if the child were addicted to drugs. Would the parent feed the habit and buy clean needles? Would they support a child who molested children?

 Parents who approve of their children's sins because they "love" them, do not understand love. The first duty of parents toward their children is to help them get to heaven. Approving of their mortal sins is the last thing a loving parent should do. If the child dies in the state of mortal sin, he or she WILL GO TO HELL. Mortal sin destroys the relationship with God. Is the parents' desire to be approved by their children so strong they will sacrifice their children's souls to it?

Nobody has to sever relations with their children who are making bad choices, but parents are guilty of serious sin themselves when they endorse their children's mortally sinful lifestyles. And it is an action that is ultimately selfish because what a parent is really saying is, "I will not risk my child's anger or rejection of ME because  it will hurt ME too much." So God takes a back seat to the child and the child's sin. 

I'm a parent. Raising our five children wasn't always easy. I remember before our children reached adolescence, a friend with older children told us, "You'll change when your children are teenagers."  We didn't. Was holding the line always easy. No. One child played the "You don't love me." card when I refused to do something. I laughed and said, "I told you when you were a teenager I cold never do that." What I didn't, but would today is, "If You loved Me, you wouldn't ask me to do that."

Pray for parents, especially those tempted to approve of their children sinful decision in order not to "alienate their children." Alienating God is a lot worse! And, in the end, when a parents reward bad behavior, they just get more of it.

Earth to Boy Scouts: You Can't Cooperate "a Little Bit" with Evil

Well, the Scouts have voted to allow openly "gay" boys into the organization. So they may as well scrap the Boy Scout Oath:

On my honor, I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.

 There is nothing "morally straight" about homosexual behavior. Of course, the Scouts could just change the word "straight" to "whatever." That would fit the Zeitgeist and sound pretty cool as well. Hey, whatever moral conduct floats your boat: one more victory for moral perversion!

If the Scouts think they can brush their hands together because the controversy is ended
they are clueless and deluded. Gay activists want male Scout leaders. The agenda is to transform the culture by perverting every institution in the country, particularly those that affect children. The Scouts' collapse is just one more propaganda success in the project to normalize evil. ("Woe to you  that call evil good, and good evil: that put darkness for light and light for darkness." (Is 5:20)

But -- I give the activists credit for their zeal and single-minded purpose. As Scripture says, "The children of this world are wiser in their generation than the children of light." (Luke 16:8)

Sad isn't it? We who have the Lord are often not nearly as zealous in doing God's work  as those serving the evil one. But that just means we have to do more penance and more praying. Some demons, as Jesus said, are only driven out with much fasting. I'm praying today to be more committed to personal penance. It's certainly not something that comes naturally. But think of all those poor men and women enslaved to the demons of lust. Don't they deserve our compassion and prayers. And their conversion would change the world. Let's pray for it!

The Miracle in Moore, Oklahoma

Whenever a natural disaster strikes, the God haters come out of the woodwork blaspheming Him for not intervening and saving everyone or chalking it up as one more proof that He doesn't exist. The tornado in Moore, OK is no exception. On one atheist's blog, vitriolic comments blaming God were legion. But the reality is, Moore proves the power of God, because despite the tragedy and the devastating material loss the outcome is a miracle. The 1.3-mile wide tornado swept through the town leveling 13,000 homes, but the death toll as of yesterday was 24! That is nothing short of a miracle. 

And the people of Moore, a working class city where "churches outnumber bars", are already rebuilding. As one local resident said, “In California you have earthquakes, in New York, you have hurricanes. Everywhere you’ve got something. We just choose this over everything else. It’s a good place to live. It’s home.” As one Facebook user said in a video he posted showing his home before and after the tornado, "The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away." Many who spoke to the media after the tornado attributed their survival to God.

One elderly woman describing what happened expressed her sorrow that her little dog was under the rubble. Just at that moment he popped his head out from the ruins. Her tearful response as they were reunited was to say she thought God had only answered one prayer, that she be all right, but he answered both prayers. Her other was for her little dog. It was a touching scene.

Stories are coming in all over about the heroes of Moore: about teachers who shielded their students with their bodies and a nurse who wheeled a mom and her newborn baby down to the hospital cafeteria where they protected the infant between them as they hugged and prayed.

And then there are the stories from those on the ground helping in the aftermath. Mercy Chefs arrived a day after the storm with hot meals. Steve Elliott of Grassfire joined them to help describing his experiences:

Yet the most amazing thing of all that I saw yesterday was not the storm's wrath but the unwavering resiliency and hope in the hearts of the people of this community. 

One man was standing over the ruins of his mother-in-law's house when I asked him if that was his house. "No, this is my mother-in-law's house," he told me. Then he pointed to the left and said, "My house is by that white truck." 

I looked in the direction he pointed. There was no house by the white truck. It had been leveled by the storm. He then told me he had come back to get his employee badge out of his destroyed truck so he could go back to work.

And that's what the people of Moore are doing. Getting to work to clean up and rebuild. They are the salt of the earth. So join in praying for these courageous folks. They illustrate what's really important -- not the stuff we own, but the stuff we're made of!

You can do something practical by helping Mercy Chefs feed folks while they clean up.  To feed the hungry is the first corporal work of mercy. And of course pray for all the families impacted. May God give them courage and peace as they put their lives and homes back together.

Murder is ugly. Those who commit it every day become calloused. It becomes easier to commit more and more gruesome acts. That is what abortion is teaching us. Kermit Gosnell was not the only monster on the block. He has many cohorts in the abortion movement. Let us pray for the next Gosnell, Douglas Karpen, to be investigated, prosecuted, and jailed for his heinous acts!

Time Out for Refreshing the Soul

I didn't use the computer much today. Instead I met with a group of women friends for lunch. We are all serious orthodox Catholics engaged in a wide range of apostolates: Catholic education, pro-life, working to get moral politicians elected, etc. Between lunch and desert we stopped to pray the rosary for our country, the election of our Virginia ticket next November, and for our individual prayer needs.

Listening to the lovely voices of these women praying together filled my heart with joy. During our visit, we shared information about each others families, talked about politics, religion, and books, and, not surprisingly, my own latest project: bee-keeping. We laughed a lot. One of my friends commented that we should only agree to discuss gay marriage at the insane asylum because that's where the discussion belongs. Amen!

We decided at the end of our afternoon, as we were all hugging and saying good-bye, that we need to do this on a regular basis, maybe once every few months. In a world hell-bent on suicide, where sanity seems to have fled the scene, those who love God need to meet and rejoice in our common embrace of Christ and His Church. What a refreshing and delightful respite this was, dare I say, a little preview of the joy of heaven?

Yes, we will meet again for fellowship and prayer and bring others into our blessed circle. True joy dispels the darkness. Evil hates it and flees from it. If you are feeling surrounded by evil, smile and repeat the name of Jesus. If you don't know Him, if you don't believe God even exists, ask Him to show you. God never leaves us alone in the dark and He reads our hearts. If we are sincerely seeking Him, we will find Him. And how can anyone, on finding Him not react the way the woman who swept her house looking for her lost coin reacted - with celebration. As Scripture says, "Rejoice in the Lord always."

That's what we did this afternoon and it was a joy to behold. Praise God for good friends!

And to top the day off, on the way home, as if to confirm the joy of the day and His promise to be always with us, we saw a brilliant rainbow arcing across the entire sky. We didn't need the pot of gold at its end to feel rich!

Today is the Feast of St. Rita of Cascia

What a great saint! She lived in 14th century Italy, a time when great factions engaged in open violence. Her husband, watchman for the town, was attacked and killed one night by a rival faction. Afraid that her twin teenage sons would avenge their father's death, she prayed for peace and that God would prevent them engaging in a vendetta killing. Both boys died a short while later from natural causes. While Rita mourned the loss of her husband and sons, she was at peace knowing the sin of murder was not on their consciences.

Rita wished to enter the Augustinian order but there were many sisters of the opposite faction so she was refused. She set about working to establish peace between the two groups and was so successful all objections to her entry were removed.

She is one of the saints to pray to for what seem like impossible causes. In that vein, let us pray that she will intervene in our poor divided nation to bring about peace.

While we can never ignore differences based on morality or pretend that evil is really good, we can treat every person with whom we come in contact with respect and charity. Sinners will never be won over by hate and condemnation. Jesus gave us the way when he asked the woman taken in adultery, "Has no one condemned you? Neither do I condemn you. Go in peace, but from now on avoid this sin." We too, while we recognize certain behavior as sinful, can love the sinner and pray for his strength against temptation. After all, hasn't each of us struggled against temptation" It is only by God's grace that the enemy can be defeated. St. Rita, pray for us. For more about St. Rita go here.

American Spectator: IRS Union Employees and the President's Cozy Relationship

It may be circumstantial evidence, but there's enough of it to choke a horse. Take a look at the article by Jeffrey Lord. Here's just a taste:

According to the White House Visitors Log, provided here in searchable form by U.S. News and World Report, the president of the anti-Tea Party National Treasury Employees Union, Colleen Kelley, visited the White House at 12:30pm that Wednesday noon time of March 31st.

The White House lists the IRS union leader’s visit this way:

In White House language, “POTUS” stands for “President of the United States.” 

The very next day after her White House meeting with the President, according to the Treasury Department’s Inspector General’s Report, IRS employees — the same employees who belong to the NTEU — set to work in earnest targeting the Tea Party and conservative groups around America. The IG report wrote it up this way:  

"April 1-2, 2010: The new Acting Manager, Technical Unit, suggested the need for a Sensitive Case Report on the Tea Party cases. The Determinations Unit Program Manager Agreed."

In short: the very day after the president of the quite publicly anti-Tea Party labor union — the union for IRS employees — met with President Obama, the manager of the IRS “Determinations Unit Program agreed” to open a “Sensitive Case report on the Tea party cases.”.... 

As stated by the IG report.Six days following Kelley’s attendance at the White House Christmas party with labor activists like herself, the President issued Executive Order 13522 (text found here, with an explanation here). The Executive Order, titled: “Creating Labor-Management Forums To Improve Delivery of Government Services” applied across the federal government and included the IRS. The directive was designed to:

"Allow employees and unions to have pre-decisional involvement in all workplace matters…."

However else this December 2009 Executive Order can be described, the directive was a serious grant of authority within the IRS to the powerful anti-Tea Party union. A union that by this time already had the clout to determine the rules for IRS employees, right down to who would be allowed a Blackberry or what size office the employee was entitled to. The same union that would shortly be doling out serious 2010 (and later 2012) campaign contributions to anti-Tea Party candidates with money supplied from IRS employees. The union, as noted last week here in this space, already has the authority to decide all manner of IRS matters, right down to who does and does not get a Blackberry. 

It is the same union whose IRS employee-members were being urged in 2012 by Senate Democrats (Chuck Schumer, Al Franken, Max Baucus, and others) to target Tea Party and other conservative groups. Which, as the IG records, they did....

Not to be lost sight of here is the role of the NTEU in raising money for Democrats in the 2010 and 2012 election cycles — the exact period when the IRS was busy going after the Tea Party and the others to curb any possible influence the groups could have in the elections of 2010 and 2012.

And Now a top IRS Official, Lois Lerner, is Expected to Take the Fifth Today

The fifth amendment that is - the one that protects individuals from self incrimination. In a trial the jury is not allowed to draw any conclusion from a defendant's right to take the fifth, but I think others can reasonably assume that Ms. Lerner doesn't want to tell what she knew and when she knew. Hey, she might even be taking the fifth to protect her higher ups. Maybe she knows the administration was fully aware of the persecution of the Tea Party et al. And doesn't it give you a great sense of peace to know that this lady is going to implement Obamacare? Good grief!

So the question is...how much did Obama know and when did he know it? He claims (once again) to know nuthink. But that excuse is getting a little lame as one scandal after another piles up. Wouldn't it be great if oval office tapes turned up like those Nixon kept? But I suspect Chicago thug-style politicians don't keep that kind of evidence...unless they want to blackmail somebody. 

Let's hold the president accountable for his administration. He's the boss. If he were an honest boss, his underlings know that he'd expect the same honesty from underlings or heads would roll. But, let's face it, he's as honest as Nixon and his enemies list is probably a lot longer.

...on the abuse of power by both unelected bureaucrats and Congress:

Dear Editor,

The revelation of the abuses of power by several departments of the Obama Administration
has raised two fundamental questions about the way we are being governed.

First of all, how is it that Congress can give to unelected bureaucrats powers, which are
not even granted to Congress by our Constitution? By granting to Federal regulators the
power to invade our privacy, to seize our property without due process of law and to violate
our freedom of religion, of speech and of press, Congress has abused or abdicated its proper
Constitutional mandate. We are supposed to be a nation of the people, by the people and for
the people. But over the years, Congress has allowed our government to gradually go through
a fundamental transformation, whereby we have become a nation of the bureaucrats, by the
bureaucrats and for the bureaucrats. And these bureaucrats are so protected by civil service
laws as to be de facto a class of nobility. As a result, our representatives and senators are
often relegated to acting merely ombudsmen/women, who serve us by begging for special
favors or exemptions to be granted to their constituents by these bureaucrats.The second question is raised by the bureaucratic abuses that are coming to light. Why are
we willing to give such bad example to our children? Many of our schools are vigorously
implementing anti-bullying campaigns.  Yet we, as voters, have for years tolerated various
forms of bullying by bureaucrats in the Internal Revenue Service, in the Justice Department,
in the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Health and Human Services and
numerous other Federal agencies. For example, the Department of Homeland Security was
so busy ensuring that its TSA agents could check out the genitals of children and the elderly
at our airports that it ignored clear warnings on the terrorists planning to set off bombs at the Boston Marathon. And the Treasury Department has been so busy targeting Christian and Tea Party groups for special scrutiny and harassment  that it has been ignoring its procedures that allow billions of dollars in illegal payments to be sent to criminals and dead people.

Sadly, when anyone questions the legality of such abusive practices, that person can be arrogantly threatened with special scrutiny, harassment or even prosecution by government bureaucrats. A  man once defined a bully as being a coward with power. Sadly, the revelations of abuses of power now coming to light indicate that there are quite a few such persons firmly ensconced in our federal bureaucracy.  The problem of bullying, then, does not seem to be confined to our schools.

Finally, the abuses of power that are coming to light demand that those in power be held
accountable. What is being revealed is not merely inappropriate behavior or poor customer service, but rather obscene abuses of power. President Obama has promised on numerous occasions that his would be the most transparent and corruption-free Administration in American history. It would be an insult to the dignity of his person and of his office for us
not to hold him and his Administration accountable for the prompt and thorough fulfillment of this promise. Only in this way will we be able to wrest governmental power from the control
of tyrannical bureaucrats so as to restore a government guided by the consent of the governed.

Money issues are important, the economy matter, but finances are secondary to fundamental principles that begin with the defense of LIFE! Democrats are the party of death. They favor killing babies in the womb and babies born alive after abortion. They defend assisted suicide and see nothing wrong with starving and dehydrating people to death in passive euthanasia. They want an end to traditional marriage and elevate sexual deviance to a civil right. Their solution to poverty isn't to help people get out of it through work, but to make them ever more dependent on government giveaways funded by hard-working families being squeezed more and more by confiscatory taxes.

Take inventory of the damage done to Americans by liberal Democrat programs. Johnson's Great Society drove men, especially black men, out of the home and created an underclass dependent on Uncle Sugar Daddy. It increased out-of-wedlock births which, in turn, contributes to increasing violence since young men in fatherless homes often turn to gangs for their role models.

I suspect that single mom families can compensate for a missing dad, at least to a degree, by turning to churches. A church with a strong program for boys that includes male mentors, lots of fun and energetic activities, etc. can make a significant difference in a fatherless boy's life.  Government handouts a la Democrat policies never will.

Ask someone raised in a family on a limited income who had a strong father whether he felt deprived. My husband came from such a family. His dad was a machinist in a small business and his mom was a homemaker. They raised nine children. For the first 18-20 years they lived in a tiny three bedroom house with an itty bitty kitchen. When he was in high school my husband and his brother helped their dad build a larger house next door with four bedrooms. He grew up with a strong work ethic modeled by a dad who always had another project in the works that often involved the kids. Whether it was their huge garden or raising rabbits or buying a calf to raise for meat or his mom canning their produce - they worked and saw the results of their work. Add their strong Catholic faith and, all I can say as the recipient of his parents' example, is "What a great way to grow up!"

So I love E.W.'s message of strengthening America's values! May Virgnia voters recognize the great opportunity we have in our Republican ticket and vote for Cuccinelli/Jackson/Obenshain come November!

After stimulation, some of the embryos developed to a stage where they produced stem cells. 

Daniel Sulmasy, a professor of medicine and a bioethicist at the University of Chicago, told National Public Radio (NPR), "This is a case in which one is deliberately setting out to create a human being for the sole purpose of destroying that human being. I'm of the school that thinks that that's morally wrong no matter how much good could come of it."

And it happened here in the U.S. in the state of Oregon, the same state that legalized assisted suicide in 2009. I feel the way I did the day Roe v. Wade was announced. Murder of the babies just took an exponential leap. And the culture of death is moving into an entire new ring of hell where the demons howl with glee over the descent into barbarism by "scientists" playing God.

I love Stuart Shepherd's Stoplight! He's pro-life, pro-traditional marriage, and a man after my own heart with a sense of humor that's spot on. I think his "stoplight" is also a "spotlight" exposing liberal lunacy. And when you think of all the things liberals believe that simply aren't true (like a man who feeeels like a woman is really a woman or the rectum is a sex organ or killing a baby in the womb is "health care")...well...lunacy is the only word that describes it. If I put on a toga and insisted I was Julius Caesar, people would say I was a few eggs short of an omelet and might need to be restrained, but a man who tells everyone he feeeeeeeels like a woman can get away with sitting around nude in the women's locker room at the pool, etc. and liberals all nod like bobble heads. Of course, he's "transgendered" and has a right to expose himself  to all the little girls entering the locker room. If their mommies don't like it they can put up a curtain where the kiddies can change.

The emperor has no clothes, but it doesn't matter to liberals. They will go to their grave claiming the right of the nudist to expose himself in public. Pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit on our country to open the eyes of the blind and and change cold stony hearts into hearts of flesh and blood that beat in union with the heart of Christ.

The Republican Convention: 8,000 "Freaks" Pick the Candidates

Well, after a twelve-hour day for most delegates, the Virginia Republican Convention (labeled a "freak show" by the Daily Kos) selected a great ticket for the gubernatorial election in November. Ken Cuccinelli heads the list and set the entire convention on fire with his philosophy of principled government that involves standing for all the people: from the little ones in the womb to the elderly near life's end. He spoke for workers including working women and stay-at-home moms. He spoke about building an atmosphere of fewer government regulations and the right to work. He described his record of prosecuting child predators and assisting those with mental illness. He defended the Constitution and sent a strong message of principled government. You know where Ken stands and you know he's NOT blowin' in the wind. I've known Ken since before his first race for the General Assembly and I was impressed with him from the beginning. How wonderful to think of this family with their seven lovely children filling up the governor's mansion. Go, Ken!


Mark Obenshain was easily elected Attorney General candidate after the first ballot when Rob Bell withdrew  his nomination and asked the convention to choose Obenshain unanimously. It was a gracious action on his part and the convention rewarded him with tremendous applause.

After about eight hours of voting and four ballots, we finally elected our candidate for lieutenant governor, E.W. Jackson. I spoke to him outside the hall early in the morning and thanked him for running. Although Susan Stimpson was my first choice, I wore Jackson's sticker under hers and voted for him on the second, third, and fourth ballot. He's a stirring speaker who has the passion to rouse an audience and he did that when he said Virginia is a sovereign state and we don't need the federal government's permission to mine our coal or for farmers to grow their crops and parents to raise their families. I look forward to hearing more from E.W. on the campaign trail. One of the most entertaining aspects of the convention was when his supporters took to the convention floor with their signs and snaked around the hall. The other candidates' supporters followed soon after in friendly rivalry. In fact, the entire convention was friendly and many of those with whom I spoke described our wealth of good choices. I saw no evidence of rancor or meanness among candidates. In fact, it was the most upbeat political event I've ever attended despite being looooooong because of the multiple ballots for lieutenant governor.

We left after voting the 4th ballot since we had an almost 3 hour ride home, so we missed E.W.'s acceptance speech, but we look forward to hearing lots more from him.

The highlight of the convention for me was Teiro Cuccinelli's speech. It was from the heart and gave an intimate family portrait of Ken, Teiro, and the kids including 4-year-old Jack who doesn't know what a governor is, but loves big stickers and put Cuccinelli for Governor on his bike and his bedroom door.



Of course, the convention had hardly begun before liberals were tweeting their "tolerance" and showing exactly how nasty this campaign is likely to be. The Daily Kos maligned every delegate at the convention calling it the "Virginia Republican Freak Show" and went on name-calling just about everybody who spoke. It's funny that the same media that can spend the morning praising a gay pride parade with grown men wearing tutus, high heels, and false eyelashes and the afternoon at a demonstration where Planned Parenthood supporters dress as vaginas and penises can talk about our convention as a "freak show!" The author of the nasty piece described Jackson as "insane," but who really deserves that moniker?

As one of the "freaks" at the convention, I'm proud of Virginia! I'm proud of "freaks" who think babies are for hugging and cuddling, not snipping their spines and throwing them in trash buckets. I'm proud of those who make and keep their marriage vows for 30, 40, 50, 60 years and celebrate the next generation at grandchild birthday parties and soccer games. I'm thrilled when parents take their educational responsibilities seriously and monitor what's happening in the classroom or decide to do the job themselves at home. I'm proud of the young people who attended this convention, and there were many, especially among the workers giving out stickers and signs and running up and down the coliseum stairs encouraging their candidates' supporters.

Things have changed a lot since my early days in pro-life politics! I remember the stealth pro-life candidates who asked their supporters to shut up lest proclaiming their pro-life position lose them votes. Yesterday, every single candidate spoke out for their littlest constituents and, frankly, it brought tears to my eyes and gave me hope. God will not abandon His people when they speak for the least of His little one! Yes, we are on God's side and whether this ticket wins or loses in November, our leaders are proclaiming the truth of life and freedom for all, not just the born, the rich, and the powerful.

Jackson ended his speech with the words of the lovely patriotic hymn, My Country Tis of Thee. May Virginia once more, as she did over 200 years ago, become that "sweet land of liberty." Virginia nurtured our constitutional republic. It was the birthplace of the American Revolution. May we once again take the lead in nursing our beloved country back to health with the grace and blessing of Almighty God!
